Could this heartburn treatment stop angina pain too?

On Saturday, I showed you how magnesium can dilate your coronary arteries and increase the blood and oxygen flow to your heart. By doing this to your arteries, this amazing mineral can stop angina pain — and the spasms associated with it. But magnesium isn't the only nutrient that can stop angina pain.

There's a two-nutrient combination that also stops the pain. What's more, when you take these two nutrients together, they can help reverse any damage the poor circulation has caused to your heart and other organs.

Not too long ago, researchers conducted a small study to discover a way to protect your organs against poor circulation. To do this, they looked at the antioxidants carnosine and melatonin. Carnosine is made up of the amino acids beta-alanine and histidine. It's a great metal ion scavenger, so it's effective at cleaning out your blood vessels. And melatonin, as you may know, is a hormone that helps regulate your sleep cycle. But, as I've shown you in the past, it can do so much more, such as stop heartburn and relieve pain.

In this particular study, the researchers divided the rats into five groups. One group was the control. The researchers induced ischemia (poor circulation) in the other four groups and then allowed the blood flow to return.

uring ischemia is when biochemical injury can occur — unless there are enough nutrients to protect the cells. Of these four groups, they didn't treat one group. They gave another group carnosine by itself. One group took melatonin by itself. And the last group took both carnosine and melatonin.

After the test, the researchers looked at the animals' tissues under a microscope. Understandably, the control group didn't experience any cellular damage. The untreated group experienced several different problems. There were adverse biochemical, enzyme, and cellular alterations. And some of the cells died.

The other three groups didn't experience nearly as much damage. But the group that took both nutrients together had the fewest number of cellular changes. This group also had the lowest rate of apoptosis (cell death).

Even though this was a rodent study, it still shows the power of these nutrients to protect tissue cells. And since any organ in your body can sustain oxidative damage from poor circulation, these nutrients offer them dramatic antioxidant protection.

So if you have angina — or any problems with poor circulation, consider taking carnosine and melatonin together. If you're taking Advanced Heartburn Relief, you're already getting 6 mg of melatonin. Take this dose before bedtime. And take 500 mg of carnosine twice daily. You can find it online and in health food stores.
